Why this site was created?

The short answer to this question is because there is a huge need for information. I have served as a management consultant for nonprofits since 1998 and I've found that the vast majority of nonprofits in the United States are small and many lack the capacity they need to function. Likewise, most nonprofits can't afford to hire a consultant, yet they still need help and an answer. That is why I am here!

After working twelve years in my family business, I realized that my calling, and it is indeed a calling, was to be an everyday philanthropist and a connector of people.

A personal goal I set when I first created this site back in 1998 was to have a positive impact on people and nonprofits, not just in the United States, but on a worldwide basis.

Everyday I wake up and try my best to remain focused and to constantly remind myself that what I'm doing is a calling and not just a vocation. I enjoy having the ability to turn on my computer and connect with people on a global basis.

Daily I invest my time, which has value, but also my own resources to keep this site going. Little money is generated by advertising. Also, if you do email me and ask for help the vast majority of the time you will get help FREE not an answer contingent on you paying me something.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of people don’t value free information and I continue to run into the world’s view that measures success only by the dollars generated versus the change brought about in a life by doing good. I would be lying to you if I said that I didn't struggle and question myself on a daily basis. There are some days and even weeks that go by when I feel alone and unappreciated for the work that I have done. Don't get me wrong, I know I'm helping people, and I also know that I'm doing the right thing; however, just knowing this, doesn't necessarily bring me the satisfaction that I sometimes hope for.

I'm sure that most people who visit the site don't realize that the 650 plus pages and over 10,000 links are all maintained by just one person! Fortunately, I have had help from my wife and from a few other individuals from time to time.

Thank you to those that have helped me by editing what I have written or helping me with the graphic work. I know that so much more needs to be done.

I hope as you look at the various pages of the site you find what you need.

If you don't you can always send me an email and I'll see if I can help you locate the answer.

Sincerely,

John Minges
